Kathmandu Marsi Red Rice is a traditional Nepali red rice, valued for its slightly nutty flavour, firm texture and natural reddish-brown colour. Marsi rice is traditionally cultivated in the high-altitude regions of Nepal, particularly in Jumla. It is an excellent choice for dal bhat, pulao, khichdi and a wide variety of everyday rice dishes.

Cooking Instructions

Rinse the rice thoroughly. For best results, soak it for approximately 20–30 minutes before cooking. Then cook using approximately 1 part rice to 2 parts water for around 25–35 minutes, or until the rice is tender.

Once cooked, remove from the heat and let it rest, covered, for a few minutes before serving.
